 Creativity and Divine Surprise:  

   Finding the Place of Your Resurrection

                                                  Karla M. Kincannon

Karla M. Kincannon is an artist, author, teacher, spiritual director, and United Methodist minister. Karla believes God? gift of creativity is an essential tool for navigating the spiritual journey, and a necessary element for the corporate life of the church. She invites others to be courageously creative as a way of knowing God, embodying God? image, and building God? kingdom on earth.

Karla founded SpiritArt Ministries to help individuals and congregations encounter the living God through the use of their creativity. In her workshops and lectures Karla weaves together the movements of the spiritual life with the stages of the creative process, providing participants with a unique means to deepen their faith. Those attending Karla? workshops have called their experience, ?wesome,·?ife changing,·and ?rofoundly meaningful.·

 She is the author of Creativity and Divine Surprise: Finding the Place of Your Resurrection, as well as numerous articles about the spiritual journey. Also, she has authored curriculum for the United Methodist Church. Karla lectures, leads workshops, and facilitates retreats in a variety of ecumenical settings nationwide.

As a liturgical artist and a designer of sacred spaces, Karla uses the arts in worship to invite others into an experience of the Holy. She believes art is both means of prayer and method of proclaiming the good news. Karla has been a liturgical designer of sacred space at national gatherings and in local church congregations.

Karla is an adjunct faculty member at Hiwassee College and has taught continuing education classes for United Methodist clergy in Virginia and Tennessee. Karla earned a BA in art from Virginia Wesleyan College in Virginia Beach, VA; an MDiv from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, IL; and has done graduate studies in Design at Iowa State. She is a certified by HTI as a healing touch practitioner. She lives in East Tennessee with her husband, the Reverend Dr. Jim Noseworthy.
